Product Design

With the interest of gaining product design experience, I had the opportunity to work on templates for resource pages which included content pages and an FAQ page. This project allowed me to work closely with the Director of Product Design and Copywriters by addressing a problem and solving a solution, doing research, designing outlines, and learning the basics of component creation and prototyping in Figma.

Our objective was to make the point that there was no centralized space for a user to view information about .SWOOSH (DotSWOOSH), learn about collections launched by the team, or a space to view frequently asked questions. By having our research done, and design examples, we aimed to present these ideas to Leadership with the hopes of setting our objectives into motion. Unfortunately, this project was put on hold and later, scrapped due to a reorg shift.

General Content Page

Creating a content page was our initial focus as a way to get blog content on the site and create engaging experiences as users navigate information.

We started by focusing on achievements, which are earned by users for participating in events (on social or IRL), to participating in gaming events such as the Fortnite AirMax event. Once an achievement is earned, they are displayed on a user's profile as a way to showcase their participation.

Many users have expressed confusion about achievements and have relied on Instagram to ask questions and receive information. The achievement content page template was our first attempt at identifying content and displaying that content in an informative way.

With the current experience, users are directed to the "Learn" link in the navigation which sends them to the .SWOOSH Medium page where they can read and learn more about everything happening within the project.

Process

I began the process by collecting inspiration based on what other Web3 projects have done. I called out specific sections and information that we could implement for our own design.

After collecting inspiration, I began low-fidelity design directions. The goal here was to add placement images and copy to give an idea of the overall experience of the page.

The challenge, being honest, I'd never done work like this before and struggled in the beginning to grasp the concept of what was needed. My manager gave me feedback along the way and guided me to a quality level of work that was needed to produce something we felt confident with.

After receiving feedback, and once the project was put on hold to realign with company objectives, I continued to put work into sharpening my skills to create a detailed outline. Doing so allowed me to develop the eye to narrate the flow of the page.

FAQ Page

As the team's priorities shifted, we placed our focus on creating an FAQ page as the quickest way for users to receive information on .SWOOSH, virtual collections, and other general questions.

Similar to the content page template, the objective here was to create low-fidelity designs which would then lead to creating a detailed outline of how the page would flow and categories of questions that frequently came up by users.

The process began by collaborating with copywriters on the alignment of content and identifying frequent questions from our users. From the copy received, I moved forward with low-fidelity designs exploring different layouts and interactions that would help users navigate the page.

From the designs, I initiated prototype examples of how a user would navigate to specific categories to easily find what they are looking for. This included my introduction of components and variations.
